Bratwurst & Sauerkraut
Whether it's Octoberfest, New Year's Day or your own special occasion, you'll love our brats with this sauerkraut recipe. It's Gooo-od!
Directions
Prepare bratwurst in large skillet with water and butter, bring to a boil on medium heat. Cook 10-12 minutes, turning until water evaporates and bratwurst brown. To prepare sauerkraut, melt butter in large skillet over medium heat, brown the apples and onion until they are caramelized, stirring constantly. Put sauerkraut in pan with apples and onions, sprinkle brown sugar over all and toss well. Turn to low heat, add pepper and caraway seed (optional) and cover. Cook over low heat until caramelized and golden. Stir occasionally and let brown. Push bratwurst into kraut and add beer. Simmer until liquid evaporates.

Sauerkraut
- 3 tbsp. Butter
- 1 Medium Granny Smith Apple
- 1 Small Onion, Slivered
- 1 32 oz. Cold-Pack Sauerkraut
- 2 tbsp. Light Brown Sugar
- 1/2 Cup Light Brown Beer
- 1/8 tsp. Black Pepper
- 1/2 tsp. Toasted Caraway Seed (optional)
Bratwurst
- 8 Purnell’s Cooked Bratwurst
- 1 1/2 Cups Water
- 2 tbsp. Butter
