Grilled Cheese & Bologna
Purnell's Old Fashioned Style Bologna or our Sliced Bologna, American cheese and tomato sammich. A southern staple for sure. It's Gooo-od!
Directions
Heat a skillet on the stove to a medium high. Add a pat of butter or cooking spray onto skillet.
Slice bologna loaf as thick as you like or use our pre-sliced bologna (remove red tape before cooking) and use as many slices as you like. To keep bologna from bubbling up in center, cut a slice on at least 1 side of the bologna (some do up to 4 slices around edge) cook approximately 2-3 minutes on each side until desired level of schorched bologna. Add cheese slice on top of bologna and stack and move to a corner of skillet.
Place 2 slices of white bread in skillet. You may need to add more butter, to skillet before toasting the white bread (some use mayonnaise buttered to each side of the bread before toasting (this cooks into the slice like butter). Flip slices when one side is done. Stack bologna onto white bread and sandwich together. Flip sandwich again to toast each side of bread till golden brown.
You can then add sliced tomatoes, mayo or any condiment you like.
(Watch video for pro-tip for red tape removal).
