In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook sausage until browned and Thoroughly cooked. Drain grease and reduce heat to low.
Add butter and allow to melt. Whisk in flour and heat until mixture is the color of peanut butter, whisking continuously. Season with salt and pepper.
Raise heat to medium. Gently stir in 3 cups of the milk and bring to a simmer, stirring continuously. Pour remaining 3 cups milk in to mixture, 1/4 cup at time. Allow mixture to reach a simmer after each addition. Continue heating until desired thickness is achieved, stirring contiunously. Season to taste and serve.
- 1 pound Purnell’s Hot Country Sausage
- 10 tablespoons gluten-free AP baking flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 6 cups milk, divided
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp salt
