Cowboy Baked Beans


Purnell's Cowboy Bake Beans is a great side dish or as the main dish for Gooo-od hearty meal!

Directions

  1. Fry sausage/hamburger until Brown and chop into crumbles (drain off excess grease).
  2. Chop 6 pieces of bacon about 1.5” sq and fry in a skillet. Do not cook till crisp.
  3. Open can of Fried Apples and drain. Chop slices into chunks and add to casserole dish and top with ¼ cup brown sugar
  4. Add beans and sauce ingredients.
    Pro tip: Open can from the top and not the sides to drain. A side cut opener works well when you do not need to drain.
  • Add all beans and meats into your casserole dish.
  • Stir in barbecue sauce, brown sugar, worcestershire & stir well.
  1. Slice your links into elongated coin shapes and top your dish. Links will cook in the oven and should brown up nicely.
  2. Set oven on °325 and cook on top shelf for 1.5 hour. Allow it to sit for 15min before serving.

Serve as a side dish or make a great meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) Purnell’s Pork Sausage (or half beef, half pork/sausage)
  • 1 pack (4 Links) Purnell’s Cheddar Smoked Links (or any Purnell links)
  • 4–6 slices bacon, chopped
  • 1 (15 oz) can of fried apples
  • 1 half of a bell pepper and/or small onion, diced
  • 1 (15 oz) can chili beans (not drained)
  • 3 cans or (15 oz) different flavors of pork and beans, (drain some)
  • 1 cup of your favorite barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (light or dark, adjust to taste)
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt & Pepper to taste
