Italian-Sausage Spinach Burgers
Mix our Purnell's Italian Sausage with spinach eggs and garlic to make these burgers for your grill. "It's Gooo-od!"
Directions
First begin by firing up the grill to a moderate heat.
In a large skillet, bring 1/4 inch of water to a boil. Add 1 tbs of butter and spinach. Cook for approximately 1 minute and then drain, pressing with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
In the same skillet (after wiping clean), heat olive oil. Add the garlic and be careful not to overcook. Remove when fully cooked.
Next, combine spinach, garlic, raw sausage and egg whites together in a large mixing bowl and sprinkle with salt.
Shape the sausage mixture into patties of your size preference (we recommend no more than an inch thick so the sausage cooks all the way through). Brush the burgers with oil and grill until browned on both sides.
Top with feta cheese and continue grilling until the cheese softens.
Serve on whole wheat burger buns. We recommend sweet potato fries as a side.
