Sausage Bean & Casserole

Made with Purnell's “Old Folks” Hot Pork Sausage, “Old Folks” Medium Sausage

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. Purnell’s "Old Folks" Medium or Hot Pork Sausage
  • 2 #2 cans of red kidney beans
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 2 cups sliced apples
  • 2 large yellow onions, sliced
  • 1 cup tomato juice
  • 1/4 tsp pepper (don’t add if you use hot sausage)
  • 2 tsp garlic powder or one garlic clove minced
  • Pinch of basil and cumin

To prepare:

Cook sausage slightly in skillet, drain. Combine with other ingredients and put in casserole. Bake at 250ºF for 1 1/2 hours. Serves 8.
