Purnell’s Brats are the perfect combination of spice and all the good cuts from the whole hog including the hams, loins, bacon and shoulder. Like all Purnell’s products, it’s goo-od!

We got our Bratwurst Recipe from an old German sausage maker and we have remained true to it for over 50 years. In Kentucky, Purnell’s Brats are a fixture at almost every outdoor festival and picnic. If people are grilling brats, chances are they’re Purnell’s.

Beer Brats

Ingredients:

  • 3 bottles of beer
  • 1 medium large sweet onion
  • 2 ounces (1/2 stick) butter
  • 2 lbs package of Purnell’s Old Fashioned Cooked Bratwurst

How to prepare:
Place brats in a Dutch oven with onions and butter then cover the brats with beer. Bring to a boil and reduce to simmer until brats are cooked.
Remove brats and set aside beer mixture.
Grill brats over charcoal fire until golden brown.
Return to beer mixture until ready to serve.
Serve brats on fresh baked brat buns with sauerkraut, onions, green peppers, ketchup, and/or mustard.
